There are usually two reasons that a Virtual Card may be declined at checkout:
1. The Virtual Card was created for a lesser amount than the purchase.
- In these cases, you can either lower your cart's total amount and attempt checkout once more OR contact our Support team to have the current Virtual Card you're attempting to use canceled and recreated.
2. You are attempting to purchase in a restricted category:
- To learn more about restricted purchase categories and industries, please visit What purchases can I finance through Credit Key?
- Along with the provided list, our payment processor for Virtual Cards (Stripe & Visa) categorizes each merchant using their own industry parameters. If your merchant falls under one of these internally flagged industries, this could also be the reason for your Virtual Card declining.
- In these cases, you can reach out to us via email at support@creditkey.com to provide us with an explanation as to how this purchase relates to your business for further manual review.
